Every story in this book is completely true.

The book is completely true. All the stories are true. The book is a story of my relationship with me father. After WW11 he worked on railroad and was a gambler. He met a guy rising in the mob. They became friends. One night three guys came into the bar looking for the friend. Fight started and my Dad jumped in. They beat the three guys and Dad got a huge scar on his forehead from a whiskey bottle. That sealed the friendship. My Dad did special hits for the mob. Special favors. Turns out his friend became chairman of the Board ( the board is something very very few people know about and wont admit) Dad was asked to be on the honor committee, something else very very few people know about. The guy visited our house several times ( I was in college). My Dad was chief of police in our town Waterloo, Iowa. I was selected to handle the money of the Board. Approximately 400 million a year. I was scheduled to go to Vegas to meet the Board with my Dad. Two days before the meeting, the guy dropped dead. The book details the events before and after the death. Every story is true.

Tom Beemer is an excellent main character, as we see his personal struggles up close. The writing style flows well and really makes you think, while giving plenty of action at the same time. The details of the story and characters are very believable, so as to make you think this could be somewhat of a work of nonfiction. I really couldn't put it down, and I highly recommend it!

I bought this book because I enjoy cop stories, but I was in for a pleasant surprise. This gripping tale is about a man who faces some tough moral choices and enters a world of danger and dark self discovery. He finds out a lot about himself and his own father. Exciting and fast paced, this novel is a real page turner that will make you squirm a little when you read it, thinking about how you would react in a similar situation.

It is Better to March in Circles Than Not to March at All is a mystery that will keep you turning pages until the end. Tom Beener deals with power and possible riches in a town (Waterloo, Iowa), and nothing will prepare you for what transpires there, including the Boardroom alongside organized crime. Tom's father is an ex-cop who has developed multiple connections with members of this town in all circles of life, both good and questionable. Tom is presented with a deal that can make him rich beyond belief, but at what cost? Betrayal and worse will cause Tom to wonder if it is worth these and more issues. As you read each chapter, you will wonder if Tom will achieve greatness and wealth—an excellent book for mystery readers.

This memoir reads like a novel. It’s an honest account of deal making with a mob-related organization. The deal would make the author filthy rich.
Most of the narrative are phone calls between the author and his “connected” Dad. There are no discussions or scenes with grisly details of murder. Rather, Dad talks nonchalantly of how mob business is done and people disappear. Father and son talk strategy when trying to decipher who’s doing what and why. Will the author get his rich deal?

This was a captivating read that takes you on a thrilling journey through power, ambition, and moral dilemmas. Tom Beener's story is filled with suspense, personal anecdotes, and high-stakes decisions that kept me hooked from start to finish. My only complaint is that I wish it were longer—I didn’t want it to end! If you're looking for a fast and engaging read, this book is a must-read.
